Monsoon Boredom + Fun with Camera phone

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2007

Ryan from Division Day is so punk rock he sleeps with his guitar in the back of the van.
D Day + Moi are en route to San Antonio. It is absolutely pouring and the lightning scary. We are just outside Austin in standstill traffic and should get there right at load in.
Slightly bored so I decided to mess around with my crappy cameraphone.
I just got a call from Benji in To Live And Die In LA. They absolutely killed it at our show with the cassettes last friday and will also be playing San Antonio tonight at the revolution room. Set time is 10 pm. Were going to try and meet up for some revelry before a week of mischief at sxsw.
Safe Travels Everyone!

Chinese checked

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2007

I followed a link posted by Dan at Gone Mild and found to my amusement that, like Dan, my blog has been banned by China.
I can only assume this is because of my recent rant against the poisonous food at China Star buffet at 95th and Metcalf.
But it’s good to know that China is protecting all those little Chinese from the dangerous ideas that I spout out in this virtual fish wrap. Check your blog and let me know what you find out.

YouTube Tuesday: La Traviata

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2007

The long-time reader of this virtual fish wrap will know that I’m kind of into opera. And since today’s kind of a culture Tuesday, I’m posting another animated opera adaptation, this one from Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata.
Interestingly enough, I find this entertaining not just for the music, but also for the dancing gobs of goo that remind me of a psychedelic mushroom trip I once took at a party in Niagra Falls (man, that was one crazy Yom Kippur!)

SXSW Here We Come

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2007

Half the city of Los Angeles will decend on Austin, TX over the next few days. Soon every bar along 6th street will be packed with crackberrys and blue tooth devices - choking out the usual drunken college students in the name of indie rock glory.
SXSW is always madness, chaos, stressful, and oh so much fun! Bring on another year!
Division Day
I’m in Dallas right now - hitching a ride into the festival with the gentlemen of Division Day and Birdmonster. They’re headed to San Antonio tonight for another show at the Limelight sponsored by those loveable fellers at Music For Listeners. Exactly a year ago today Birdmonster played the same show with Tapes N’ Tapes. Check out photos from that show right here.

Birdmonster were just added to The Hot Freaks party on Saturday. I just witnessed a set consisting of only 3 old songs in Dallas last night and holy […]

Nature’s first green

Posted by admin on March 13th, 2007

The site of these first blooms near my office building brought to mind the famous poem by Robert Frost.Nothing gold can stay
Nature’s first green is gold,Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf.So Eden sank to grief,So dawn goes down to day.Nothing gold can stay.
